The English Language Institute (ELI) provides an intensive English
language program designed to
meet the needs of those who need to learn English as another language.
The ELI offers a variety of programs and courses. Inasmuch as Atlantic Union
College is an accredited
college, international students enrolled in the full ELI program will be able
to keep a student visa in
good standing. A student must attend class regularly during each semester in
order to qualify for student
visa renewal.
The courses offered provide opportunities for integrated skill building
in oral/aural and reading skills, and in grammar and writing. These
skill areas are reinforced by a multi-media language lab.
Potential students may attend classes on campus, talking advantage of our language
laboratory, or the English Language Institute can bring a program to your workplace
and to your employees on-site.
To enroll in the Institute you need to request an application packet that contains all the necessary documentation. Fill the application form titled "Application for Undergraduate Admissions" and mail it to the Institute as soon as possible.
English Language Proficiency Requirements
Location
The English Language Institute is on the campus of Atlantic Union College, which is located in historic South Lancaster, Massachusetts ( New England). We are in Worcester County, about an hour from Boston, the intellectual center of the United States. In fact, AUC is within a short drive of over sixty different campuses and over a dozen museums, including some of the world's greatest. There are many places where our students can go to find wholesome recreational activities such as camping, canoeing, hiking, snow and water skiing. Our campus is located in a rural area, with acres of adjoining forest, pasture land and historic buildings.
New England is the birthplace of our great American nation and Seventh-day Adventism, including the Millerite movement of the mid-1800's. It is in this area that the Review and Herald had its beginnings, and it was on the grounds of AUC that one of the most beloved American carols was conceived many years ago, "It Came Upon A Midnight Clear."
Religious Life
Religious life is widely varied and includes opportunities for Christian fellowship through the Student Association, Campus Ministries, Community Outreach and many other interest-specific religious organizations. Students are encouraged to take full advantage of the college's many opportunities for spiritual growth and community worship.
